A page from my Regenerative Diary

We are so excited to be able to share our journey into regen ag with you all. Recently, regenerative farming has been receiving a lot of attention in the media. But is it truly a meaningful practice, or is it just another “green labelling” tactic to attract environmentally conscious consumers for a sale? Regenerative farming is such a truly amazing system, we have been learning and applying these principles over the past 8 years, slowly seeing changes in our soil and tasting the difference in our food.

In short: Regenerative agriculture is a conservation and rehabilitation approach to food and farming systems. It focuses on topsoil regeneration, increasing biodiversity of plants and biological live, improving the water cycle, nutrient cycle and energy cycle, enhancing eco systems, supporting carbon sequestration, increasing resilience to climate change, and strengthening the health and vitality of farm soil. Be sure to check out our upcoming newsletter to learn about our beginnings, our reasons for starting, and maybe even get a sneak peek at the different projects we are working on.

Are your chicken’s free range? “Our chicken is pasture raised, what is the difference, and how can you tell?”

A product that states free range means the chickens are still raised within contained sheds, but they have space of 1 square meter and 1 hour a day of fresh air.

When a product is pasture raised,” it means that the chickens have the freedom to roam on pasture, soak in the sun all day, and have the option of using movable shelters.. or sleeping under the stars. Pasture raised chicken has yellow fat when cooked and the appearance of the chicken shows it, the texture of the chicken is more fleshy, not watery.”

At Gloria Dieu Farm our Chickens are pasture raised, they form part of our regenerative system and play a very important role in restoring the soil health.
