Breed Origins and Features
Australian Whites have been developed by three leading Australian stud sheep operations to suite modern Australian prime lamb market specifications as well as Australian environmental conditions.
The breed is made up of certain proportions of White Dorper, Van Rooy, Poll Dorset and Texel blood.
The result is a breed that can be run as a self replacing flock, or that can supply rams in a terminal system to increase size, weight and growth rates in crossbred flocks for meat production; a breed that exhibits hardiness, do-ability, growth rates, carcase weight and shape; a breed displaying the essential traits of exceptional mobility and walk-ability, good shedding ability, strong mothering instincts, a good temperament and a high degree of vigour in the lambs.
